Dr. J. Michael Purcell Sr., MD

J. Michael Purcell Sr., MD is a graduate of New York Medical College in New York City and completed his internship in general medicine at Albany Medical Center level one trauma center from 1966-1967.

Dr. Purcell served as a Captain in the United States Army from 1967-1969 and specialized in tropical, intestinal and parasitic diseases.

After his tour with the Army, Dr. Purcell returned to Albany Medical Center and completed his Dermatology Residency from 1969-1972 and became board certified in dermatology in 1974. Dr Purcell served as the Chief of Dermatology for St. Peters Hospital in Albany, NY from 1990-1996. He is a long-time member of the American Academy of Dermatology.

Dr. Purcell continues to serve his community and practices with greater than 50 years of specialized medical dermatology experience. Dr. Purcell Sr. is the father of Dr. John Purcell, Jr.
